Transformative Treatments

Your Path to a Confident Smile

At Waterfront Dental Centre, we believe in a holistic approach to dental health. Our partnership with a leading orthodontic clinic and our expertise in aesthetic restorations mean that every aspect of your smile is cared for under one roof. From composite bonding to the restoration of implants, your smile transformation is our mission.

Dental Health Check

The Dental health check appointment allows the dentist to assess your teeth, tissues, and gums to allow them to plan for your individual needs.

At this appointment there is an open discussion about your concerns as well as your desired outcome from any planned treatment. We also complete an oral cancer check during this visit.

Most patients will require one dental health check per year, however, variations in this recall occur as per the clinician’s analysis of your specific needs.

Dental Hygiene

Visits to the hygiene team ensure that your gums remain healthy. This appointment is patient specific with tailored recall schedules and procedures completed being determined by the patient’s own periodontal health status. A key area within the hygiene visit is patient education regarding their oral health needs. Discussions and demonstrations on the correct brushing and flossing technique are of vital importance, allowing our patients to continue to maintain their smile to the healthiest level.

Fissure Sealants

At Waterfront Dental we have a real focus on preventative dentistry with the aim being to ensure our patients will maintain good oral health. Fissure sealants are placed on the biting surface of the teeth to cover over the deepest grooves in which decay is more likely to occur. They are quick, easy for the patient and require no local anesthetic. This preventative procedure will be performed by your dentist or dental hygienist and seals are checked at all visits upon return. We often term them ‘blankets’ when discussing them with our younger patients.

Fixed Prosthodontics

Fixed prosthodontics is the field of dentistry with the goal to restore function and aesthetics to the mouth using crowns, bridges, and implants. These prosthesis are ‘fixed’ into the mouth and do not get removed by the patient.

This treatment is very individual and your dentist will discuss your suitability for such work.

A dental crown is most commonly placed upon a tooth that has been root treated. It encompasses the tooth structure giving improved functionality and improved aesthetics to the tooth. A crown is a single unit meaning one tooth is covered by one crown.

In cases where a patient is missing one or more teeth and they are not suitable or do not wish to have dental implants, a bridge can be a fixed option for them. These are crowns fused together that remain in your mouth as part of your own teeth.

Veneers allow us to improve the aesthetics of the face of the tooth. This allows us to alter, as required, the shape and perceived position of your tooth. Veneers can be very non-invasive with little to no tooth preparation required in some cases. Veneers can be made of porcelain or composite resin.

Teeth Whitening

Happy smiles are our aim and give our patients confidence. Tooth bleaching, in the form of home whitening kits, allow our patients to brighten the colour of their teeth. Impressions are taken to fabricate customised trays which house the whitening gel over the patients natural teeth. Patients have the control over this process and can modify their whitening regime to suits their needs.

Orthodontics

At Waterfront dental we are delighted to have a visiting orthodontist from the well-respected Shannon Orthodontics. Orthodontics is a field of dentistry in which teeth are aligned to become straight with a stable bite. The treatment needed is case dependent and an assessment by the orthodontist in Shannon Orthodontist is required to plan your case to get you on the journey to the perfect smile.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are used to restore missing teeth in the mouth. This can be done for one tooth via a single tooth implant or restoring an entire mouth of missing teeth. An assessment is required to see if you are suitable for this treatment. Your dentist will discuss this further with you. This treatment can be provided for by a local specialist working alongside your dentist.

White Fillings

Composites are tooth coloured restorations that are used to restore teeth to repair areas affected by decay. They allow us to match the colour of the filling to the tooth. As composites are chemically bonded to the tooth surface it allows us to maintain more of the tooth structure and therefore we can place more minimally invasive fillings.

Composites are also used to improve the appearance of patients teeth. We layer on composite to the tooth surface to create the form and shape we desire. This is performed on a case by case basis after a dental health check has been performed by your dentist.
